Client:
Schenströmska Herrgården (www.schenstromska.se) and Smedens BBQ (www.smedensbbq.se) are located in Ramnäs, an old industrial community outside Västerås in Sweden. It is a mansion with separate businesses that offers food, accommodation, conference facilities and events in a historic environment. The manor house with its stables offers a meeting place for up to 450 people. In the stable, conferences as well as weddings and concerts are taking places. Here you find Smeden's BBQ which offers authentic bbq where the food is cooked at low temperature in a smoker and grilled in a glaze pit.
brief:
The new manager wanted to improve the branding of Smedens BBQ and needed help with making visual communication for marketing purposes for channels including both print and digital. They needed support with graphic design and layouts for banners and posts to social media, advertisements for paid advertising at magazines as well as flyers and posters for different upcoming events. The deadlines was often short and quick deliveries was needed.

The work:
Every upcoming event had a different brief, and every events needed different marketing. The briefs were often short and clear. I did ideation and always sent drafts to the client with suggestions and ideas for different layouts. With the received feedback and good communication the final versions were always a result of co creation and approved by the client before the went alive.
Visual design and marketing materials that was done:
- advertisements to magazines, both digital and printed versions
- flyers
- targeted flyers with offers
- social media
- posters with seating at weddings and events
- banners for email
The work includes layout, copy and graphic design to both print as well as digital – often with short deadlines.
The work was always done in a close collaboration with the client on a remote workplace.
the design:
A graphic manual with fonts and colours was available for Schenströmska Herrgården, which made my work much easier. The visual communication for Schenströmska Herrgården should be elegant but modern. To follow this I made sure the header had enough with space to get an airy feeling. The body text was often aligned to left for a classic feeling and the footer always containing contact information in a box with a colour from their graphic manual. All created materials had the same structure for better recognition.
One challenge was the limited range and variations of images that needed to be used. Some of them was not easy to adapt with accompanying text. Another challenge was to minimize the amount of text that was desired to be included. The over all visual design, the image together with the text, needed to be informative as well as attractive for the target group.
